Since I shared pics of J and E, here's one of me with my cozy new slippers :)

Can't believe we didn't take a pic of her with the new telescope...but here's one of her with the new astronomy books at her stocking:

Sammy with her new toy (she's very protective of her new toys!):

E with her buddy Alex:

We had a great Christmas and I hope you all did as well! We're ready to put the decorations away though and have a fresh start...get the rest of our new apt. in order and get back on top of things for 2009!

Have a Happy New Year!

E's New Jammies

E recieved 3 new sets of jammies this year...she's left off her whole 'I've slowed down growing, Mom- no need to worry' thing and is back at it. Her new green flannel set will be lucky to last through the winter if you can't tell by the photos! I'm usually making her a size 7 or 8 depending on the pattern!

First up is her favorite (yay Me!). Her 'fairy nightie' she calls it. I made matchy outfits for her doll...I've meant to do that all along with clothes I make for her but it's been put on the back burner until now. I was tempted to just say 'eh' but I made myself do it and am happy I did!

The next set is a pair of long johns...her last ones are above the ankle and the shirt barely touches the pants...much less when she raises her arms! These turned out well- I'll probably take in the sides another inch or two though and maybe hem it up another inch or so...got a little carried away with the length there!

The last is a RTW pair...I don't think these will make it to next year :P Would have bought a size up but they were out and I was tired!

She should be set now until next Christmas for the winter jammies!

More Christmas Sewing

How exciting, I know, but he needed more. Sharks even! They fit well, but I think I'll be going back to the 4way stretch versions as they're the most comfortable...says J. :) :

His other present was a pair of comfy lounge pants...I made a pattern from his fav. RTW ones. Worked out great- though I did forget the drawstring. It was for aesthetic purposes only as it has a wide elastic waistband. Next time though :)

Goofy photos for your viewing pleasure :D Like E's look on her face?

And the monsters that reside now in J's pants. They're a secret...sshhhh!

Next post will be E's jammies!

Ah. My poor neglected blog...

Well- I did warn you all at the outset that posts would be intermittent! Things have been hectic. I've been sewing, just not showing :P We had a great Christmas- it came and went quickly though we'd been looking forward to it for some time! I haven't edited these pics beyond the basic red-eye adjustments...if I did I wouldn't get around to posting them!

E's fun holiday outfit (the tee and shoes I'd picked up on clearance last year...the skirt I made- had the fabric in my stash from heaven knows when. J helped with the fraying!):
Photobucket
(yes, I know I know...her belly button! You should have seen it as an infant in her bathing suit! She still has a mild hernia...nothing to be done about it!)

Some gifts for Romi now that it's safe to post them...the pants I made from a well-fitting RTW pair of E's...the blanket E made with some help from me for Romi and her soccer loving daddy :) :
*(eta: click on the pants pic to see the 3rd pair...the pic was too big again)

More next post, but here's the pic we used for our Christmas card this year...most of you have seen this, but for the few that come from SM/etc:

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Winter Bed

Ahh...the flannel sheets! :D

I finally made E her duvet cover...she went without last year. I used the flat snowman sheet as I hate flat sheets on kids' beds...makes it so hard for them to do on their own. I also used some clearanced Target sheets I'd picked up this summer...the flannel snowman sheet is for the back so it's soft against her skin :) I eyed her current duvet cover for how to do this one...turned out well! I was off somehow on my measurements in the back so one strip down the side is a bit narrower than the other. Shhh- don't tell. Even though I just did :D

Photobucket

I love my buttons! They look like candy!

We'll be breaking out the heated blanket for J and I very...very soon! :D

Halloween

Been crazy around here with the moving and open house and all. So I'm just getting around to posting E's costume! I'd promised her a Mulan outfit long before I knew we'd be moving. Now I know to wait until closer to!

The night of- all made up and feeling quite sassy!:

This was her outfit last year for kicks (Melody the mermaid). Sorry for the huge pics!:

And a funky outfit she wore the week of...should fit for the next couple of years with the tie belt. I bought a clearanced tee at goodwill (they were still selling the things at Target...I was quite pleased with myself :D). I just added a skirt and belt with carriers. And made some leggings too:

Hope to get my sewing stuff back out in the next couple of weeks here. I'll be going through my bags of fabric and paring down at the same time...it's gotten out of hand! Really. :P

A bit of who owns whom? Tweedledee or Tweedledum?

I like what a guy said in the comments section of the blog that posted these numbers: "I miss the good old days when special interest groups secretly bribed candidates....now its public knowledge...."

Some of my fav. fabrics :)

They're not HTF, but that's ok w/me! I got these from another sewingmama who was destashing...I loved them the moment I saw them and hadn't happened upon them for sale until hers! I knew a tunic and legging set were in order for the coordinating fabrics!

And my practice pair of leggings (I redrafted an Otto pattern and wanted to test in on some not-so-special fabric)
Photobucket
Photobucket
She loves the fabric of these...it's for valentine's day, but I figured there was plenty for these leggings too. Closeup of the fabric:

I'm getting there on her fall/winter wardrobe! I have one planned dress left...then a few pairs of leggings once I get my Jalie/kwiksew patterns from the coop. A holiday dress, but I'll probably leave off on that until closer to then... She is planning on being Mulan for halloween, so we shall see how that comes together!

Thanks for stopping by :D

Farmers Market at the Farm!

I got this line of fabric (Farmers Market by Sandi Henderson) from a fabric coop...I'd been waiting for it FOR-EVAH!! I love it, it looks awesome and is perfect for fall :D Mom says it looks like the soybean field...which is a good thing :) This was my first go at a redondo and it wasn't at all as bad as I'd feared...went together pretty quickly, though the hem takes quite a bit of time! Just about 5 yards of hemline in this baby!! Sorry the vertical pics are on the small side...

All laid out, so you can see the full radius on this thing!:

My lovely tag!
Photobucket
And a close-up of the hem...I used picot edged elastic to finish...I thought about a rolled hem, but my rolled hem foot doesn't work so well with wovens at it would have been a bigger pain to fool around with that than it was to attach the edging (plus, this gives the hem a little weight):

We had our first apple treat last night!! Apple dumplings...they were good! A bit rich we all agreed, but I'd definitely try the recipe again-cutting down the butter/sugar/dew mixture by 1/2.

Ahh...I love fall :D Hope it's a long one!
